Finally acro growth!!!

My hands are probably part of it too. I had to learn some self control and stop reaching in there now the only time I reach in really is to do wc and coral placement. My skimmer is real finicky, I can dip my finger in and it goes nuts for about 8-10hrs and wont skim.

My params are the same with rc as they were with io. I think it was something else because besides salt I havent changed anything. calcium has always been high around 560 and doesnt wanna go below 500. Alk is always 12, mg is always above 1600. Wc 25g a week I dont know what it is but im just glad things are in track now. Ive got frags that are a year old that are just starting to grow about a week after using rc.

Congrats on the growth spurt :D Is there a particular reason for changing so much water? Might be why your ca and mg are so high?

i doubt the light had anything to do with it, the boosted levels of cal and alk did, and alot of the people using IO dose the tank whether with a cal reactor ,2 part of kalk

I wouldnt throw this variable out. Corals react to almost everything in different ways. Once I dropped my photoperiod of my daylights by 2 hours a day, I was amazed by the growth change. It wouldnt surprise me if the corals have just reacted to the light change with a growth spurt.

Some theorize that certain stresses will make SPS grow, like cutting them, changing some water Param and so on. I am a firm believer in this, this is how nature reacts to change (reproduce) in their environment.

I am really surprised that your Params are where you say they are. What kind of test kits are you using and have you had them double checked with another local reefers test kits.

+1

All params are tested with api except mg(salifert). Im still a little iffy about the ca test. I may have to take some water to my lfs to have it tested better. Its hard for me to be live I have 560ppm ca with nearly 30 corals.

ive checked api to salifert tests they ready close enough to where im just useing the api kits. 1 thing with the api kits is to make sure you shake up the solution before useing it , you will get a false reading if you dont!!

Cal is not really used up in sps . Alk is what thay us up alot for growth.
