I haven't posted in a while but I recently began working at a fish distribution facility and I have been trying to catch this V-Tail grouper out of a huge filtration system he got sucked into. I have been trying for a couple weeks now and what I finally caught him on was a hook and line I tied a very small hook on some clear line over a pvc pipe hanging above and I completely covered the hook in mussel. I then came back every 30 minutes or so to check and eventually he took the bait about 2 hours after I set it. I could have just bought one at a huge discount through my job but I wanted one with a story behind it and he was being pretty neglected down there so I took him home. Just thought I'd share for anyone in a similar situation maybe trying to catch one out of there rock or something.
