wow, for my padi we paid about $350 for all books, and equipment we had to rent, then a few bucks more for fins, mask, snorkel.

then we had to do 3 pool dives and 4 ocean dives.

84! ya, you're lucky....but nothing beats climbing into a 7mil wetsuit and jumping into 50 degree water at 7am.
