Finally did it. New Peacock with pics!

I tried to be satisfied with the little hitchhikers that I picked up locally but they were too small and boring to suit my wife... I am lucky that she still keeps me around
I finally ordered a peacock (from fishsupply.com) My wife and I are Stargate SG1 fans so we named her Anubis:

I will get some better pics of her soon as she is starting to be more comfortable in her new home.
She has already destroyed all her tank mates that the previous resident (2" N Wennerae) tolerated which includes a large turbo snail, 2 medium sized zebra hermits and a smaller astrea snail.

For those of you deciding on what mantis to get, I would say that the peacock is well worth it. Not only do they seem to be more fearless (my other mantids all seem to hide most of the time) but you can just see more detail on them. She is big enough that I can actually see this wierd flexible little appendage that sneaks around and grooms her carapace and eyes (and various other details)... that would be hard to see on smaller specimens.

One more note, I didn't really want to order over the internet, but at least with fishsupply.com you can call them up and speak to someone in the same room as the animals are located. They can verify size, color, etc - and that made me more confident that I was actually getting a peacock. They did ship in very high salinity, but she seems to have acclimated fine.

Looks great, what size tank does a peacock mantis require? I have an empty 55g acrylic hex that I would like to make a mantis tank.

20-30g tank would be sufficient..but if you had the choice to live in a 1br raised-ranch or a 12br mansion, which would you pick.

My Peacock is named Dagon (old Babylonian Sea-God/Lovecraft Horror), while my latest (G.Chiraga) is Freya (Norse Goddess).

My Peacock is pretty adventurous, although both the G. Chiraga and my little N. Wenn zip around more.

My G. Platy is BACK in a long on/off molt-thingie....Dr Roy said that they were often difficult with their molts. I wish that he would make up his mind.

My G. Ternatensis seems to be wither ill or molting/just molted, vecause, while she has taken shrimp, she hasn't smashed a snail in a week, and this was my most aggressive and Godzilla-like Mantis...

My G. Viridis... The Baron von Munchausen barely ever comes out at all. The only pics i have of him are video stills (:( (, but I guess that this indicates that he is happy and feels safe, seeing as he is in a virtual mantis palace of tunnels and cave.
