He's in a 55 gallon. I'm going to put him in the 210 very very soon. I think he's around 3 inches long. Volitans are amazing :D I want to show him off to you guys! Urm...how do I post pictures on here? I have a photobucket....if that matters.

on the pictures that are on photo bucket u click the the one that says direct link that is under the picture itself. then on RC u click the thing that says to insert image paste the link their and it will show up on the site. make sure you preview the post to see if you made a mistake

This is the only decent picture I have of him. Hope the link works...

I kill these little buggers everytime I see them where I live. Lion fish dirby coming up as well, these are a huge pest where I live and people cant even give them away.

RcToners, Did you have to say that on my thread? I'm sorry, but I'm aware that they are "pests" down there around florida or where ever, but I love them and I've actually have been wanting to go get one from down there and put it in one of my tanks. ( If they'd let me) They are beautiful fish, and I'm actually dedicating my 210 gallon tank to this dude.

natebedwell06, that's awesome! Must be gorgeous. I can't wait for mine to get that size :)

Steph,

Wow that looks great! I wish I had a tank big enough for one. Im going for the dwarf as soon as i can. just because it does not work in the Keys does not mean it does not work in an aquarium. Great job Steph. Keep the photos coming. What will he be sharing the tank with?

:deadhorse:

Totally uncalled for...not cool at all. BTW that's D-E-R-B-Y.

Pretty fish...based on its pectoral markings, I'd say 3" is about right. It's just starting to lose the false "fish eyes" that make the fin rays resemble a group of small fish.

uncalled for. i will hold my tongue reguarding this clown.

the lion you have is beautifull. i want one like that so bad. i just dont have a tank. i want a little tank for my fuzzies and a big tank for 2 V. Lions. thats my dream so far.

Thanks for the kind words everybody!

jgemperline, Thank you! I'm not...sure what he will be sharing the tank with. I would love to have two Volitans in there instead of just the one, but I can't find another small one anywhere I look, and I figured it would be best to add them at the same time. ( Wouldn't it? Because I'm putting this guy in the 210 very soon. Possibly even this weekend. Would it be fine if I put it in, and if I came across one the same size later on I could add it and they wouldn't fight? Or is it like a 50/50 chance of a fight? ) I don't like eels, obviously can't have a trigger, or a puffer, and for some reason I can't keep Tangs alive. Angels, I don't know much about them, but I've heard they can be aggressive. There's a good sized Silver Foxface Rabbitfish (Siganus Magnificus ) at a LFS that looks really nice, but I'm not sure. And there's also a Harlquin Tuskfish ( Choerodon Fasciatus), but it's an "eatable" size for even a 10 inch Volitans, and i don't know how quickly they grow. I want peaceful- semi aggressive fish in with the lion(s).

Pictures are coming! :D I've been sitting in front of the tank for....10 minutes now, camera in hand, waiting for him to go back to whatever he was doing before he saw me and got all wild.

The volitans won't fight. Add another later when this one settles to where ever he is going next.

The best way to get pics is to feed him a lot and then turn out the room lights.

Thank you!:) I lucked out with getting a small Vol. We have plenty fish stores around here, and they keep Volitan lions in regularly, but they only get big ones in. They had one that was 1 inch. That's including the fins and everything. But, it was all hush, hush when I asked where it was a week later....:(

Baby lions can be tuff. The smallest one we've raised to date literally looked like a dime with fins. She turned out to be a real beauty. She's a D. barberi.
