Finally got my Genicanthus bellus female..

Just Reefin'
So I have wanted a Genicanthus bellus now since my tank was started last December but dealt with some nutrient issues some months back and have held off. Finally, after getting to the bottom of my issues, the time came..

She's healthy, eating like a pig both frozen and pellets. Swimming looks great, so I don't see any swim bladder issues.

Now some pictures!! What do you guys think?

On a side note, my biggest worry was introducing her and seeing aggression from our yellow tang, but to my surprise, he\she didn't even pay attention and now they even swim together at times. It's been a perfect introduction with absolutely zero aggression.

Love it. I've been wanting one for a while, but I've been trigger shy... You get it from DD?

Came from my LFS... They get females in reasonably often, but not males, and if they do males apparently don't do as well so might need to be very selective there.

Im planning on a male and female pair myself. Looks great!!

Thank you, I love this fish.

Really nice fish. Mine is a favourite with everyone. Interesting how yours has the red on the fins. Mine did when i got it but has since lost this.
I was worried about aggression when i added mine as it was only an inch and a half. My yellow tang ignored it too but my sixline, who beat the crap out of everything else, fell in love and they swam together before i caught it and moved it on. I guess everyone loves a bellus:inlove:

Absolutely.. that was my biggest worry, but it has been great. It's almost like everyone just sees her and avoids her when she swims around all regal like.

Such a beautiful fish, and I'm stoked she is eating the pellets I make that are soaked in selcon. Would a swim bladder issue be rather apparent or can it be real subtle? I'm not noticing anything and she swims effortlessly.

The genicanthus i've seen as well as anthias brought up from the same sort of depths are very noticible with a swim bladder issue. You would see a fattening to the stomach and they tend to swim heads down all the time, fighting to lower themselves in the water column. They can also float towards the surface as they can't self regulate.
If its up and down all levels of the tank and whizzing around i wouldn't be worried.

Excellent! She is certainly moving around very happily, eats like a hog and has no problem going in between my rock work to the water surface flawlessly. Very happy to finally have her in this tank...
