And I thought I was slow...lol

I'm not gonna touch that one Todd, it would be too easy. LOL!

Congrats Larry!!!

well I have an electrician Friday coming to drop 2 new dedicated 20A lines to the wall behind my tank, as well as GFCI's all around..... :D Looks like I need to get moving and hang the cabinets in the fish I mean laundry room. :D

Sweet I just saw your build thread today, I can't wait to see this tank running, I love the bracing and your lighting/equipment plans sound good.
As for the Solaris, Leopard Wrasse here in our forum has one, he just got it.
It all depends on the types of corals, and clams you want to keep though, I don't know if you are thinking SPS or an LPS tank though?

Chris

Yes, I saw Robert Solaris the other day, and it is a very nice fixture. I want to see what kind of corals can successfully be kept with under led's, and then I think I might buy one.

Well i was planning SPS high in the tank with LPS, and softies down low, and a clam or two. I read the 40 page thread yesterday on the fixture in the equipment forum, and the current owners who have SPS seem to get good color, and growth on their SPS. I plan on keeping an eye on that, and SPS will be on of the last things I add. That's also the reason I am waiting on the 400w version :D

here are some pics of a members SPS growth under the solaris 20k unit.

Larry, is there a before and after pic to compare to? I know clowninaround74 has a 150W HQI with LED moonlight set up and it gives a lot of illuminescense to the corals.

Speaking with Marcus (Quarterback Killer) last week, he mentioned an interesting thing; Using MH only, you end up with just colored tips because of the lights beating down on the corals. If you use supplemental florescents, you get more overall coloration on the stalks as well as the tips. I have noticed, since I took out my SVHOs that the corals are not as brightly colored as with SVHO supplementation.

Some users overseas are putting reflectors on the bottoms of their tanks to get MH reflection up into the bottom side of their SPS.

I like that Paul. The reflector back in. I have believed for awhile the most sucessful light setup from my limited experience is MH with VHO Actinics. Always a winner.

Yeah, I believe you are right. I am regretting selling my SVHO set up. I may get a 36" unit just for the SPS side.
