Finally my 120 build

Upgraded the top off reservoir, got tired of refilling that measly 7 gallon camp water container.

Also replaced the Neptune WAV pumps with 2 mp40w qd vortechs. Couldn't handle the vibrating and noise from the wavs. Tank is dead silent now.

Do you have a link to the 15/16 gal tank? Looks perfect as a large cap ato tank. All I'm finding is cylindrical but I hate the wasted space

Cheers

Got the itch Friday to upgrade the qt tank to something larger so I could house more fish at one and make the environment comfortable for a larger fish such as a tang. Went out and got a 40 breeder

Since my qt started over due to getting a larger tank I bought 2 new fish. A little purple tang and a borbonius anthias. Awesome additions...

Installed FMM module for my top off container, this units gives super fast alerts...also bought the infrared switch and made my own little bracket.

Picked up my fresh water reservoir for refilling my top off. It's 25 gallons so should save me time instead of the gallon at a time routine once every 10 days or so

Great Build!! Im jealous :)

m sure you have it covered, but I just want to point out in case.......your 25gal freshwater top off resevoir is pretty large. If you have an issue with the overflow drain lines getting plugged, then the return pump chamber will empty into the tank, which will trigger the ATO, which will keep trying to fill the return pump chamber but it wont be able to because the return pump will keep pumping water into the tank......The tank will eventually overflow and equally bad have a huge salinity drop because of the large volume of top off water that would be dumped into the tank.

maybe your ATO has some limiting factors on how much it will pump per day or something to avoid the above issue, but still I think I would not feel comfortable trusting the electronics.

maybe ur not using that large container as your ATO res.....

Anyway....alot of people forget that to be the safest, your tank should be able to handle the Return and ATO reservoirs.......

My top off is the rectangular 16 gallon which I put around 15 gallons in at a time. The 25 is to refill the 16 gallon container once every week and half or so. As for my tank overflowing if my pipes clogged I'd say I'm pretty much screwed no matter what as long as theirs water in my sump. I have dual overflow boxes and don't run them at full capacity so it's highly unlikely that an overflow would ever occur. In the last 10 years of having tanks put together just like this I've never had an issue. I also use a spectrapure top off unit so it has a float switch to cut power. Thanks for concern tho.

think he means if the float valve fails then the top off water can overflow the tank with ro if the reservoir is too big. but you are using it for filling anyways, not top off
