finally, people in Knoxville

I have been looking for people in Knoxville to get corals from. My tank has been up and running for almost a year so now I am starting to add more coral. I am not impressed with any of the fish stores around here.

There are several here on the boards. You might want to list what you are interested in. Also we have regular meetings if you are interested in checking out the club as well. We aren't as large as some other clubs but we have a great group of core people that are very helpfull with lots of reefing knowledge between them:)
I would also encourage you to try out the Coral Reef again. It's under new ownership and will only get better in the future.

Welcome to the forum... I hope that you can make it to one of our meetings so that you can see what the club is about and meet some of the people involved... Our March meeting is the 21st at noon... More info on the meeting can be found here...

Tell us a bit more about your system and your livestock list and whatnot... :)

Welcome. You should really come to the meeting on the 21st if you can as well as check out the Coral Reef again. New owner/management and it is getting better every week. I also encourage posting what you are looking for and your tank specs. Between members in the club, I am sure we can help find corals. Welcome.

Hi and welcome. Definitely come out on the 21st if you can.

Yeah, Coral Reef has a lot more nice stuff now. It's worth checking back.

I just posted a bunch of soft corals in this forum for pretty cheap if you want any. <<< *Shameless self-promotion.* ;)
I live a few blocks from the Aquarium.

Haha, I was kinda fishing to see where people stood. Several months ago I swore I would never buy anything from Coral Reef. Maybe two weeks ago I went back and was impressed enough to buy a couple of things. I really like the $20.00 frags, what a concept.

Is there anyone on here from Coral Reef or Aquarium? I think Aquarium has really nice freshwater stuff. I also like some of the people there. I just don't like some of their business decisions.

I would love to come to your meeting and meet others in the area. I would also love to see everyone's tanks. Is there a thread with tank pics?

At the moment I am looking for one green and one pink tipped frogspawn, hammer, or torch. Maybe one of one variety and one of another. I believe I saw someone has an overgrown frogspawn. I would like to find a couple heads of duncans. I am also starting to collect pieces of acans and SPS. Nothing specific, just looking for things with nice color and catches my eye.

I am getting ready to make a decent size order of zoas next month if anyone is interested in a group buy. This is not a business, just someone in the hobby who I have a lot of respect for and like sending him business. If anyone is interested send me an email and I will send you a link to pictures of his stuff. (I don't want to break any rules here)

macclellan, it looks like most of your stuff is sold. I might be interested in some different colored rics or a blue shroom or two.

I will try and post pics of my set up this weekend.

What like selling brown coral for several times the $ as nice colorful coral available elsewhere? ;)

Yeah, there really needs to be a FTS sticky....I haven't seen most people's tanks in photos or person. C'mon peepz, don't be chicken!

As far as I know, nobody from Aquarium hangs out here. Aquarium does have some decent freshwater stuff, but if you really want plants, give macclellan a buzz (see, you don't have to promote yourself all the time). ;) They also carry a good variety of parts and equipment. You'll pay more than mail-order, of course, but it is local and typically availalble. But I would go to the Coral Reef for corals locally.

And as a disclaimer: while it has long been the general consensus that the Coral Reef is the local place to go, we are now even more biased for the Coral Reef because a long-time member of our club just bought the place. He is a good guy with a good reputation.

I have some pink tipped frogspawn that needs fragging, however I am up in IL visiting the inlaws for a while... If you come to the meeting I can bring you a frag... Just PM me on how many heads you're wanting... Oh, I also have some green tipped hammer...

I'll post a FTS sometime sooner rather than later... I need to update my 120 thread anyhow...

This would be one of my favorite. I would like to see what you have for plants at some point. One of my fw tanks is planted and I have been adding stuff.

I would like to make it to the frag swap as well.

I am definitely happier with Coral Reef. The last time I went all the fish had ick and everything was dirty. Now It is clean and everything is healthy.

The Aquarium has nice plants, sometimes. Their selection varies and it's best to buy them right as they receive shipments (staff does little to promote growth/health) and sometimes selection is very low, but the A is definitely the best shop in town for plants, hands down. Pricing can be a high on some things, but many plants are fairly priced.

But yeah, if you want rarer and newly imported species (most need co2), I can hook you up. Shrimp too.

Glad to hear that you will be at the meeting Wildman. There should be a few other new people too-- Sucks that it's going to be at my little bitty house and ugly tank. Either way hope that you will enjoy it.

I'm not sure I'm ready for CO2 yet.

It can't be any smaller than my house. It's like 900 sq. ft.

I just got some plants in the mail and I have too many mangroves. I have three extra if someone wants some. $2.00 each. I also am getting ready to trow away a bunch of chaeto if anyone is interested.

howdy and welcome wildman!

i'll take the mangroves...i had a little forest goin but most of it just died off. a bulb died and i didn't realize it cause it comes on at nite. :(

I'll take or trade that chaeto for some of mine. :)
what you have looks like a different morph.
Mine is thinner and less dense.
LMK.
