FINALLY-Saltwater Pond Pics

beautiful pond... but there's a bad side to this post. i shouldnt post but oh well.

whats the point of spending all that money, and not being able to ENJOY viewing the inhabitants? i mean, ya u can look from the top, but the water distorts the view, and its not as great a side view (obviously).

wouldnt it be better to build an above ground pond out of acrylic or something so u could actually see inside?

Acrylic tank is not advisable for puffers or triggers....after a short time the tank will be scratched horribly - believe me, I have a 600 gallon acrylic tank and I would rather have a glass tank or pond any day!

I personally think the ability to look down into the tank is pretty cool. Ideally for me I'd want to set up a pond that does have a side viewing panel, but I think that this increases the cost greatly.

thanks everybody.........

the centerpiece of the waterfall is actually a large piece of reef rock that has the thorny oyster shells embedded in it. the other rocks are reef bones stacked up. i didnt want the water to touch anything but ocean material except the liners of course.

salt creep is no issue however i did have to stack rocks higher than orginally planned because the wall paint started peeling. shower drywall & paint were used but you dont take a shower in saltwater so we will have to see how it fairs.

the pond is above ground 2 feet or so but building it high enough to view would have made it into an aquarium that wasnt the point. the point was to give my fish as natural an eviroment as i could.

they all swim to the edge to greet me & every visitor like dogs begging for a treat so everyone can see them. the pictures are more blurred than real life.

they do look real friendly and happy in the pictures they came to the camera and all you need now is a wave maker get like 3-4in waves that'd be cool.
so was it real hard to do? i also was wanting to something like this just dont know how and could you use those ponds you get at like Lows and stuff I'm thinking i could make something like yours just wounder if winter would freeze anything i guess as long as the waters moving and heaters on right?

This is really cool. I have always wanted a saltwater pond for sharks.

I don't think you can do these outside though. Rain would screw up your salinity. It must be at least covered and better yet in a temp. controlled room.

Thank you for sharing.

this is cool only problem is keeping my son from trying to swim with the fish, or me. that thing is neat I like looking at my fish from atop the aquarium its just hard to do when its four feet in the air. nice job

Beautiful work you have done there. Its like a little tropical lagoon. What do you do about humidity and evaporaton? Is it a problem? I too wanted to do something similar to that only with small sharks and perhaps a ray or two.

Really nice...idk if someone mentioned this but it would be cool if you had a window and how come you havent put a single angelfish?! (lol im justing say this b/c in a angelfish enthusiast). Also out of curiousty do you swim in there lol.

Damn I cant find the view from above to my taste :(((. But I would gladly dive in with my mask :)) ... and become puffer food :P.
