Finally starting on sump system (pics)

I figured I'd start a thread showing progress during putting together my sump system- I put the manifold together last night- It won't be attached directly to the Dart but rather about 6" up from it. The top left outlet is a 1/4" Hayward labcock ballvalve attached to a modified 1/2" union. This will feed the sulfur reactor/denitrator I am working on. The top right is a 3/4" George Fisher true union ballvalve and will feed my skimmer. The bottom Valve on the left will be the return to my tank and the one on the bottom right is an extra. I was thinking it could be used for a chiller of some kind if necessary.

Anyway, more pics to come as things progress....

Did you take down your tank and starting over? Do you have pics of how you drilled your 240, and how you plan on setting it back up?

Yeah the tank has already been taken down, 9,000,000 majanos torched, stand/canopy rebuilt, and the tank drilled and put back up again. It's filled up to about 1/2" below the overflows and has a closed loop running with a Sequence Dart. I've got the Sump materials here and will finish it up this week....

LOL on the Manjanoes.. I have about that many if not more aptais (sp)

is your back overflow empty? I was wondering if the tank could take the presure not having water in it?

How many gallons is the Dart pushing?

Do you have pics of the new setup?

The overflows are empty but there are no issues with the structural strength of the tank. The sequence is pushing prolly 2000 gph with all of the ELs and 5 feet of head but it's just the right amount of flow for my softy/lps tank....I'll post some pics tomorrow, aight? I gotta finish a paper....

Here's the closed loop underneath the stand- Excuse the wires- I haven't straightened all that up yet...

Here's the plan for the Overflow/Carbon canisters that will go in the stock tank...

and Here's what I've finished so far on my skimmer- I'm still waiting for the removable wetneck top to come back from my CNC guy...

Update:

I started working on the Overflow box/ active flow carbon canisters today. Here's the diagram:

More to come.....

I have no idea what your building.....but i noticed you have the same landscape edgers that i do......everything looks very professional when you make it, keep up the good work...do you have a pic picture plan you could share with us to open our eyes to where this whole thing is headed.

It is ridiculous how professional your projects always look. You seem to spend the extra cash to get the nice looking gray pvc with very neat installations. I wish I had your patience when it comes to plumbing. Nice job!

Heh- Thanks for the compliments and sorry for the confusion! It would really be a lot easier to understand if you saw the completed system so I am going to post pics and explain it better when I'm done. Basically, I was addressing the ever present issue of trying to build a clean, well designed "add-on" to the popular stock tub that allowed easy use of active run carbon or phosphate removers without the clutter of canister filters hanging off the side. It's easier to do that in an expensive custom acrylic sump but rubbermaid stock tubs have always been another issue and that's sad cuz they're so cheap! This system will also address micro bubble problems which seem to plague Rubbermaid "sumpers". Here's another front shot:

I should have the rest finished tomorrow so I'll post more pics of the near completed project then.....

Well, I didn't make any progress on the sump cuz I had to finish up a skimmer I told somone I would go ahead and assemble for them. Here's a pic of it next to one I had running on my system before. The one on the left will have an Oceanrunner 2700 mounted on it...Should be pretty awesome...They're both really dirty but the pic at the bottom shows it cleaned up....

Got the Overflow box done and Canisters mounted....Gotta make the top and a screen plate for the inside and mount the bottom and she's ready to go...
