In Memoriam
After 4 long years, my two Solomon Island Perculas have laid eggs. I am not sure why after so long, as they have been a mated pair for all 4 years, but only until the move into my 55g did they breed. Happened yesterday night I believe, maybe a moonlight induced spawn. I dont have moonlights, but I do keep my actinics on after hours somedays. Anyways, I am exstatic!! I have always wanted to see them feeling their best and being healthy, cannot tell you how cool this is. Makes me feel like I'm finally doing some good husbandry here. Well may not seem like much to most, especially if their clowns have been laying eggs since day one, but this is a first for me.

here's so pics I spotted the eggs this morning!

As Adrian suggested, Joyce Wilkerson's book "Clownfishes" has the information you seek.

IMO those eggs look 2 or 3 days old. My clarkii eggs didn't show any color other than the yolk the first day. Keep track of how when the eggs hatch (they'll hatch just after lights out between days 8 and 12) This will help you learn your clowns breeding schedule which will become important as you try to raise the fry.

Also, this does look like a first clutch. Notice the sparseness of the eggs. The nests should become more dense as the male gets better at fertilizing.

You also will want to kick up the feeding schedule. She'll need a lot of extra food to generate the eggs and he'll need the extra energy to protect the brood!
