hmm.. that doesn't look normal to me. Almost looks like it's ripped apart. None of my mushrooms split like that, but i don't have those kind either. Normally the mushroom top itself doesn't split, a baby just grows from the base.

When I get home this evening ill post some more pics. I am a newbie so I really don't know what's going on. Thanks for your reply.

ouch... :uhoh3:...agree with crailtap25 on this one...
my shrooms don't split like that from the mouth, they tend to split off at the foot...something don't look rite to me :(

Rhodactis do split like that. They start at the mouth. Learn...here's some progression shots.

Congrats, aspringer.
Another way they reproduce is by leaving a piece of 'foot' tissue that turns into a new tiny mushroom.

First thanks for replies. Well the shroom is doing fine, actually I think we may have triplets. I am having a hard time posting pics from my phone. I shall keep trying. Thanks

I have the exact same 'shroom and about 3 weeks ago mine did the same thing...split like an anemone right at the mouth. I now have three fully healed "babies".

About 2 mths ago i had a large green hairy (3" dia) split just like that. At first i thought it was dying and then when it started to close up and heal i realized it was actually splitting. Took less than a wk. Now you never even know. Sorry, the pics are not that perfect.
