finding a new clown mate

Sad thing...I almost want to get out. I've had this pair of ocellaris for 3 yrs and this morning the husband disappeared. I have a hunch that maybe my huge brain coral swallowed him at night bc they hunker down in the corner of the tank next to the brain.

Now I want to find the widow a new husband. How do I go about that? Is this an easy process? Or do I have to wait some time?

I had my ocellaris pair over 5 yrs. when the female died. They had just laid their first batch of eggs and the female was dead 6 days later.
It took a month for me to find a juvi ocellaris to add to the tank. There was minimal aggresion from the established fish. It's been a couple of weeks and even though they aren't friendly yet they are getting along.

with that type of clown, it's fairly easy - just get a new clown that is very small and put it in with the established female - you should have to wait at all - they have no mourning rituals

What about specificity of the colors? My ocellaris is almost the standard orange and white, but her back is a bit dark and the color fades to brighter orange towards her belly. However, most common clowns I see are pretty bright orange all around. Are they just brighter when they are younger, or are they actually a different color variant (I can't remember what they were like back when I got them?

I can't speak to that confidently since I'm a maroon man, but I don't think it will matter that much - when I lived in Rochester I had a friend that had a standard ocellaris paired with one that had no black on it what so ever. Maroon's are the most aggressive and you can pair the gold-stripe with the plain maroon, so you will be safe to pair her with most any other ocellaris.

I just added a black and white oc to go with my regular oc. At first it was bullied around, but now they are paired up.Hope you find your female a mate soon.

Color Doesn't matter, they'll still pair up. And also, You could have an Ocellaris and a true perc. they have trouble distinguishing between the two. My brother has a True perc. and two b and w ocellaris in the same tank...no drama
But, size Matters... make sure the new guy is much smaller
