"Fine Quality Stainless steel" cutting shears...

I just got my heavy duty coral cutting shears and aquarium specimen forcepts and they are rusting already. I just used them today, rinsed when I was done with the project. I just needed to use them again and noticed that both of them are already rusting. I can't even use them now, I am not putting rusty metal in my tank.

I guess the 10-20 or so minutes they were exposed to air after salt water was enough to rust these "fine quality" shears. I am very upset about this, please e-mail me back. For those who think that no one should post their experiences, don't bother posting here because I felt the need to share my experience. I hope that no one else wastes their money on these.

Thank you,
Angela Bruneau

Same thing happened with mine. I think it is made of the wrong type of stainless steel, should be the type that is used for boats (there are many types of stainless steel alloys).

Man, one day. What a waste of money! They shouldn't sell these under the pretense that they are quality stainless steel that may be used in aquaria.

I decided to call over to MD, as far as i'm concerned rusting after 1 day's use is unacceptable. They agreed and are refunding me calling the items as defective. I am pleased with this outcome:) Bad product, but good business practice to refund on it.

Greg, too bad the defect isn't local to just mine, it seems like this product is just not able to take saltwater to any extent. :/

home depot has a great selection of rust resistent tools. just gotta rinse them and let them dry pretty well.

marinedepot has always been great to me with customer service, glad they could help you out =)

Thanks, Brewen. It looks like if you can get $50 order you get free shipping, too. I might see if anyone else needs some.

Koden, that's the first time i've needed their customer service... it's good they were there to back up the product.
