Not sure about the 800watt version but I did run the 200w heater and the controller was off 2 degrees. I will say it was very accurate at keeping the temp stable, you just had to add 2 degrees.
Also, the reason I don't run it on my tank now...when the power is switched off and then restored, the controller automatically defaults to 81, then add the 2 degree variant and thats too warm for my liking. Chose not to chance it.
They do make good products but this was my experiance with this particular heater.

no its an aquarium heater. i have a 120
I heard somewhere that finnex had a reputation of failing or malfunctioning. I had the same problem on my 45 cube with the controller resetting itself to 81. Had that happen when Comcast was working on my DVR. The guy unplugged it by mistake. Glad I caught it when I went to do a water change when he left.
I've had a 200w finnex heater for over 3 years without issues. I don't use there controller so I can't comment on that (RK Elite here). I also agree that 800w in a single heater is a bad thing. A couple of 200w would be much better if you need that much heat. Reason is, if one 800w heater fails, it's a big problem. If one 200w heater fails, not that big of a deal.

Mine worked very well...up until it blew up in my tank after one year of use.
