Finnex M-tank 30 with film on top of water

I have the m-tank and it has been runnning for a few months. I have a thin film of grease or gunk on the top layer of the water. The skimmer is working fine.

Does anyone else have this issue? Finnex said to lower the water level in the display, but it is already at the bottom of the trim.

Any help would be great.

I had the same problem with my BC29 and all i did was ajust the nozzel up toward the top of the tank just enogh so there was a good ripple in the water. it takes about a day then its gone
HOPE THIS HELPS!!

I just googled the finnex, that's a good looking tank...I'll have to put it on my wish list. :D

If you can hook one of these up:

It's worth the ten bucks.
I hooked one up to my HOB and the surface of my water is now pristine.

3fins - I just did that yesterday with a powerhead, so hopefully soon it will be gone.

LosingSleep - What is that and where can I get one?

It's a surface skimmer that's self-adjusting to water level and works fantastic. You dial in how much water you want it to take off the surface and it takes the rest from the bottom.

You can get it at Drs F&S

Bump

1. I can't add the little overflow piece to the tank I have

2. The pump aimed up doesn't help.

This is so frustrating. I have a 75g tank drilled with overflows and it doesn't happen because of the overflow boxes.

This tank has a built in overflow, but it doesn't seem to be taking the top layer or something.

HELP!!!!

:mad2:

Thanks.
