Anyone know how to get these guys to come out from behind the rocks they hide in all the time. Someone told me to get another one and they'll come out more. Is this true? Any other ideas?
Give it some algae wafers like those for freshwater plecos, or give it some spiriulina pellets. That should lure him out, it works for mine. But if he is new to your tank, it may take a few days for him to start coming out, it took mine a few days.
I've had him for over a year. He peaks out when food is around, but otherwise is hiding all the time. So your's wanders around the tank during the day?
I've had a pair for 4 years that only peeked out for food for the first 3 years. No idea why their behavior changed, but they are out half the time now.
My first one would rome the tank all day. My new one (had him for about 6-7 months) hangs out upside down in a large cave that I have. You can always see him and if you put food in, he goes crazy running around the whole tank looking for food. He also likes to clean my arm when I work in there along with my skunk cleaner. There are plenty of times when he just walks around the tank looking for food even if I have not fed him.
The animals are so beautiful and there are so few reef inhabitants that are so red in color, I just love them. But I'd hate to get another and find them both hiding all the time!
