Firefish match ups!???????

Hi I am looking into getting two Firefish for my brand new 65 gal reef and wht I was hoping to do is get one regular (red) Firefish and one purple Firefish.......so my question is will this work or will they kill each other. Yes I will add them at the same time! Please help cause im getting a lot of wierd answers so good feedback would be awsome haha

I don't think they will kill each other, but they probably won't hang out together, either. The regular red firefish tend to hover out in the open more whereas the Purple ones tend to be a bit more shy and timid. If I were you, I'd get a group of 3 or 4 regular red firefish. They look awesome in groups. I have three in my tank that have become some of my favorite fish. They are always hovering in the middle of the water column together while my tang and wrasses cruise the rocks. You could probably add a purple one later without issue.

Ive added mine at different times. About a month apart. The larger purple was first then I added my red. Both were in a 55. They both hung out together. Red was mostly in its small hole during they day when they werent together. Both shared the same small hole at night.

Now moved over to my 180. They sleep in the back now, so I cant tell if they are both in the same hole.

Purple now stays low in the back of the tank. Red would hang out with purple in the back, but sometimes hangs out near the top of tank.

I tried this 2x, both times w the same result. I added one red & one purple firefish. They were always together for the first few months. Then suddenly they were at the opposite sides of the tank never together, til one disappeared with in the month of the separation. Both times Purple Fire fish remained. Good luck if you do decide to try it. I hope it works for you, cuz it does look amazing when they were together.
