Firefox

make sure you don't save your bookmarks to it.

I now use Firefox to browse but when I want to keep something I use IE.

I seriously doubt that Firefox has a glitch that deletes your favorites... Not intended to be an insult to you, but 95%+ of the time, user error is the cause of computer problems. Your PC may be infected with something that attacks files, specifically bookmarks/favorites files???

Oh, and FWIW, Norton sucks butt! Its like a virus on its own. Symantec has finally perfected their program to fully take over your system. I like TrendMicro's PCCillin the best, but if it has to be a freebie, avast works great.

Well whatever the reason I cant get my favorites to stay for more that a a few day to a few weeks so I use IE to keep them but Firefox to browse.

it does indeed! :)

What i did was ask the nerds (sorry for all of you that this applies to lol. No insult intended ;) ) on tech-forums.net and they all said exactly that. Computer was going slow, gettitng adware and whatnot... they said to ditch norton and get a bunch of others. So i've got a couple of the 13 that they all recommend and so far its been way better since. I can now actually do something on the computer haha. I guess norton uses too many programs or something. One that i have now is Ewido or something like that. I've got a couple other ones too, but that one is the one i like most.

On average, norton would detect maybe 2 things whenever i scanned with it. The others come up with a bunch of things, and each one has different things that the others do not detect, which is why they recommended getting multiples. No more ad-ware, no more slowness (at least not as slow) and i'm happy.

Oh and btw...i got firefox. Its really not a whole ton different (at least by the layout) but i like it better already. Just the way it runs seems better than IE

Ok well I had the same issues as the person who started thist thread and I have and had avast running at the time. and ran it 3 times a week to check for viruses. so I believe him. It also did the same thing on my friends computer.

sounds like the local profile of the machine is messed up. Firefox's bookmarks are held locally in the profile, in application data. I wouldn't be surprised if you had spyware on your pc before you install FF and it broke something. I would uninstall firefox delete all the reg keys and then reinstall it. Have you checked your event logs for errors? that would be something I would do too.

how do you get the text size to stay how you want it? Normally it is set to the smallest as firefox's default, but i want it to be one size bigger so i dont go blind trying to see it...so i increase the size. But then when i close out of it, the next time i open it its back to how it was. And also how do i import all the favorites from IE? When i was installing it it gave me that option but i accidentally didnt do it...can i still do it now?

Norton and AOL can both burn in hell! I used to like TrendMicro however once I was forced to upgrade my software it would no longer accept my key. I contacted TrendMicro and they sent me an email saying I would be contacted within 24 hours. It has been over a month now! I have used Firefox in the past but recently I switched to IE7 which is working great for me.

Cody, I would contact TrendMicro again and have them look into why you were forgotten. They should take care of you...

Have you tried messing with the minimum font size option? I've never had to do that, I think only when I first got my laptop I had to change something on IE6, but now on both IE7 and Firefox, the defaults are fine for me. On my desktop (more of a HTPC though), it runs on a 32" LCD TV, so that one doesn't have that problem.

how do i switch the minimum font size? I just tried going to "view" then "text size" then "increase" and its fine, but then when i close out it goes back. Its not a big deal for now, but i would like to sometime figure out how to keep it how i want it.
