firmware update 2.03 to 4.01 problem

Hi guys,

I now have my Profilux Plus II. It came with a USB card/cable and no Serial cable. It has firmware version 2.03.

I have downloaded 4.01 software, and have the 4.01 firmware at the ready. My lappy will not see the profilux, even though it is detected in Device manager. Is this because of the firmware is older than the Software?

How should I go about upgrading the firmware?

If you are using the software, check the communication section on the general screen. In the drop down, there should be USB or something connection. Mine is RS232 as I use serial port. Clikc the ... button and ensure the COM port in the software is the same as the COM port shown in your device manager.

Before updating to 4.0 do the following

Update to 3.08 firmware and desktop software

Once update both, update firmware to the latest 4.0 firmware version

Once update to 4.0 firmware, then and only then update to 4.0 desktop.

if you do it the other way round it will not work.

V2.03 does not support USB as far as i remember, this is VERY old firmware. If my memory deceives me, go to the comms setting and make sure in com port you have put the correct COM address, i.e COMM 4 etc.

You can do a manual connection search also. But to find which port the ProfiLux driver is sitting on go to device manager and look it up under serial ports

The problem is making the initial connection to the profilux to enable me to update firmware.

The port is setup in Device manager no problem as COM8. However with software 3.08 connecting to this port results, after a long pause, in 'Could not connect. Do you want to check settings now?'. Doing a 'Scan COM' results in 'No device found on all COM-ports!'

Is there something I need to do on the profilux to enable it to accept USB communication?

ok, sorted. The profilux itself needed to be set to COM2, this resets itself to COM1 in 2.03 firmware. I am now upto 3.08. v4 flash coming now.

Now running v4.01 firmware and software. All is looking good. USB now connects first time.

Now time to calibrate the ph, cond, redox probes. New thread coming
