Firmware update issue.

So everyone I update my firmware my webserver stops working. I am nearly positive that it has something to do with the ip settings. After fiddling with it for a while I can usually get it back up and running.
My question is if someone has come can enlighten me as to the exact steps that they take to get there webserver back up after a firmware update.

and it should be back online
