Firmware Update Issue

Not wanting to mess around with my MAC to run the firmware, I was able to get my hands on a Thinkpad for the day. I have both the APEX and ThinkPad attached directly to my router. When I run the firmware update, I keep getting the following:

"The uploader was unable to locate a valid APR entry which on some systems may need to be created by the user. Please re-run the uploader using the command line "no arp" for further instructions."

Can anyone give me some guidance as to what I need to do?

Thanks in advance!

Do you know how to create a shortcut for a program? If you extract the firmware files, then right-click on the extracted Flash Utility.exe file, you will see an option for 'Create Shortcut'. Once you do that, right click on the shortcut then go to properties. Add "noarp" all one word after the name of the program in the "Target" dialog box. Something like this: "C:\Users\Alan\Desktop\release_4.04_BC10\Apex Flash Utility.exe" noarp Click Apply. Now start the utility loader shortcut and it will start with the 'noarp' option.

This is something new Curt has added to fix some of the ARP related issues with the loader. I'm not sure exactly what it does but let us know if you can get it to work.

That got me logged in, but now it keeps timing out while waiting for input from the Apex.
I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the Apex power once it gets into this continuous string of failed attempts, but it has no effect.

Try this sequence:

1. Unplug the controller
2. Start the utility loader
3. Wait until it times out 2 - 3 times then plug the controller back in

If that doesn't work, try to reboot your PC in Safe Mode with Networking. Then try the loader either regular method or using the force method described above.

I had that issue this weekend and hypothesized that it had to do with not having admin privileges on the computer (It was a work computer)

I booted up my personal PC and everything went fine

I came to the same conclusion. After doing some research, I found that I had to be logged in as the admin inorder for my APR command line to work properly. I'm going to try and get my hands on a non-work PC later this week.
