This is the very first built stand or any thing like this that i have done, when i saw the stand that AGA builds for 210 or 180 , i questioned the strength of it , so i look at a few peoples stands out there and I built this one .

Would this hold a 210 or do i need to do more on the construction on the stand.

thanks

I see at least one vertical 2x4 that appears to be sticking above the horizontals where the tank frame will sit. I would make sure that they are not going to touch glass.

The rest looks as solid as any other stand I have seen :) (will only get stronger when you skin it)

Only thing you might want to add is more cross braces on the bottom shelf. If you have a sump in there ontop of the plywood eventually the plywood will bow without a 2x4 support from below.

I believe the AGA is supported by the outside frame of the tank and not across the bottom. (as I recall, the stand AGA sells does not use a plywood top, only a support frame for the tank?)

should i put ply down or not then

You don't need it, but I figured if I'm buying a sheet to put down in the bottom section for the sump might as well put a peice down up top. It did seem to stiffen up the stand some. It also helps if your 2x4s are a fraction of an inch off from each other. It will provide a flat surface.
