first acro + question and pic

so, i finally got my first acro frag. a specific ID would be cool right now, i just know it as "purple tipped acro."

now, for my question. i know it will take a while for the acro to get adjusted to the new tank, but i'm puzzled by the polyp extension. i see the polyps out at night, but not during the day. it's only been in the tank for about 2 days. is this normal?

That is a nice looking frag... can't help you with an ID though. PE is typically at it's fullest at night Most acros will have some PE to varying degrees in the daytime. Sounds like yours is doing fine :thumbsup:

sometimes fish can also keep polyps in during the day by nipping at the sps.

so i shouldn't be worried? i know 2 days is a bit early to start worrying, but i'm just trying to figure out what to expect from this coral.

it is right next to a monti digi that always has full polyp extension. so, i'm assuming my fish will leave the acro alone also.

I don't think so. If you want to feel more comfortable check all your parameters... Ph, salinity, alk, Ca, PO3, PO4. Make sure everything is on target
