First Anemone, Very Exciting

Blue Carpet--OK, I think that the most suitable food that I have on hand is some shrimp tail pieces that I feed to some of my other fish. Do I just put a piece or two in the vicinity of the mouth and see if the tentacles "grab it"?

You got it, and if it reacts to it, it should close up on the food, but make sure they are small enough pieces to fit into the mouth.

Blue Carpet--Thanks. After returning home from my own dinner, I tried offering a few small pieces of shrimp. The first one I put on the oral disc about 1/4 inch from the mouth (which was open just about 1/4 inch at the time) The BTA definitely reacted by "feeling" the food with the tents, but it didn't grasp it. I looked back about five minutes later and the shrimp piece is not in sight, but I don't know if it ingested it or if it rolled off and under or away from the BTA. So, I tried a second piece. Again it "checked it out", but didn't eat. After a minute or so that piece slid to the DSB near the BTA and one of my snails started in on it. I will try again tomorrow. Also can try some fish or other food items.

I do have some concerns about the post-dinner (my dinner) "behavior" of the BTA. I will put those in another post to get more eyes on the issues.

Thanks again!
