First attempt and raising baby snowflakes.

Just transferred them over to the 10 gallon setup. They're going strong and they turned colors. Next fry are hatching tonight so I'm gonna give it another shot but try a different food sequence this time. I'll do rotifers till day 14 but on day 4 I'll introduce fresh brine and then day 7 or 8 I'll do otohime.

Ok so last night my second set of fry attached and now that I have 16 alive and well from my first set I figured I'd give it a second shot. I'm doing way better this time around now that I worked out some of my issues.

Here is my little setup I concocted for my freshly hatching brine. I will be introducing these on day 3. I didn't use live fresh brine on my first batch so I'll post an update on whether or not I feel the live baby brine actually make a difference. The first batch of fry I used live rotifers till day 12 and on day 9 I introduced otohime along with the rotifers. I also switched the first set of fry over to a clean 10 gallon setup on day 12. I'm gonna try this batch a little differently so I can see which way will be more successful.

Almost 3 weeks old. I just started to try and breed. I had a few failed attempts due to the lack of some knowledge and missing some key foods. I'm doing way better on this second surviving batch as you can tell in my pics.

It's definitely interesting especially when you get to see them grow. My wife is paranoid that I'm gonna turn the spare room into a hatchery. I'm just trying to make sure I get this down before I go setting up my breeder tank and buy more pairs of clowns.

one thing I have noticed is my strongest hatches are born on a full moon
my onyx are do to hatch tomorrow night which is a full moon.ive prepared a 20 gallon tank for this hatch

I have a strong hatch going now on day 3. Hopefully they stay strong. How in the world do you get them to lay on an exact day so they hatch on a full moon. That's talent.

Ajdiver, following along as my first batch I only have one fish at 6 post hatch. Next batch hatched last night. I'm having the hardest time with the rotifers. They seem to crash for no reason. Wondering if my rg complete went bad and is killing them (i left it in refrigerated for hours one time).

You RG Complete should still be good as long as it didn't get warm. RG Complete is used to keep the rotifers alive and give them nutritional value to the fry. That's why I lost so many my first try due to not adding RG Complete to my fry tank.

It depends on how many fry I have. Too strong hurts them but not enough kills them. I usually put the airstone in the corner by my heater.
