First attempt at rearing fry

Sorry.. I wasn't trying to be rude. Just trying to be respectful to the op. It sounded like you had a lot of specific questions not directly related to the ops thread, so it was just a friendly suggestion. :) I've found sometimes people don't respond to questions if it's off topic.

My c-quest male

That's a nice male. I like how crisp the black is on it.

I got him from alpha aquacultures

Is it normal for these guys to spend a lot of time hiding?
They only come out from behind the sponge filter when I feed them.

Are they hiding near were they lay? If so it is normal .I have a pair of Picasso in a 8g 1 flower pot had them for 18 month now .they never leave the pot .the go 5" away from the pot then they shot back like as if someone is going to take it from them and they do that only to go out for food

The fry are now starting to look more orange. I will try to snap some pics tomorrow when I get back home. I might get a better shot with the under water camera.

Nice pair ! I would let them spawn a few times and first and foremost get the rotifers down to a T , and I feed my pair a lot of Protein and have noticed they lay more eggs when I do .

I tried to take some more shots but it's hard. It looks like 25 made it to day 7 out of 40 I caught from the second batch.

The parents spawned again. But I'm not catching this batch because I will be away during hatch night. They laid a few eggs on the tile so I'm hoping that eventually they will lay all of the eggs on the tile.

I started my second culture. So I will have two running.

Here is the best I could do. This is probably the bigger of the two survivors of the first batch.

Here is the month with the next most recent batch.

My snowcasso & cquest onyx picasso dropped a nest on December 24th so far looks good but im unprepared I need a 5g tank small heater 75w
