First attempt with Clownfish Eggs

Yeah, I couldn't decide since some where silver, but seeing the eggs today now I know what the should look like. They still look viable and I just turned off all lights and will give them a few hours before I peak back in

I know the previous owner of the breeding pair had to,d me they always hatched over two nights. I think next time I will just let any early hatches be food and pull the eggs on day 8. I'm willing to bet that the 20-30 that may hatch ealy won't matter in the grand scheme of things

My fry are 4 days post hatch, and so far they seem to be going good, but I have lost 10 fry total (a few each day)

Is this a good start or is that more of a loss than normal?

Congrats on getting them this far. I know from expeience it is no easy task and you seemed to have done great. I am curious about how many do you have left? I would have been happy with at least 10 but ended up with only one.

I think I had 39-40 hatch (I moved the rock a day early not being sure when they would hatch)

I have lost 12 so I have maybe 25-27 that are 8 DPH. Most are getting bigger and starting to look more like little fish, while a few are still pretty small and I figure they won't make it.

I should be a few days from meta, so I hope I can get them through that

I can't get my iPhone camera to focus since they are still tiny and the rotifers and BBS mess with autofocus, but about 4 of them have their head stripes already

So awesome on your numbers! It seemed like it took forever for mine to get his headstripe but I am guessing that is because he is an Onyx percula. I look at your pictures and think wow only 8 days post hatch and you can see their stripes. Mine is 3 months old now and still only has one stripe.
Keep up the great work,
~Jo

i have a similar situation except the clownfish always spawn on a huge rock with multiple corals. when the babys do hatch id my display tank my 6line wrasse just eats them up.

They are actually doing good. About a 1/4 inch in size and have their head and mid stripe. They are on otohime food only and I moved them to a grow out tank.

I lost 1 Saturday as the fry tank had some bacterial bloom and turned milky white so I had to d an emergency rescue and move them to the grow out tank faster than I would have liked but they are all active and eating again

32 total. I will post a video later when I go back down to the fish room

Now that my fry tank was available again, I decided to try another batch as my others are growing out... I Definately did something right this time. Waited until day 9 to pull my rock and u used a rigid airline instead of an airstone to keep the eggs really moving this time. Every one hatched and my best guesstimate is 250-300 fry all swimming around decimating my rotifer population!

Following on this! Great job Darth!
I have a perc female with a big strange belly in my 150g and wonder if...
I'd like to try it.

Great job my friend you are learning alot and every pair and their fry can take some adjustments for success.

Congrats Darth.

Happy clowning around.

The first batch is doing great they are probably 1/2" in size and will be letting a few go soon, although I feel so attached but know I have to sell some eventually!

The second batch of fry didn't go so good, my rotifer culture crashed and I tried to pull them through with otohime but they didn't make it. With only 3 days post hatch they weren't big enough to be off rotifers yet. I took a bit off and been watching their mating patterns and 3 clutches in a row they hatch on day 9, one day odd then they lay again on day 11. I will try to raise this clutch if I get my rotifer density up to par. If not I will wait one more so I don't lose them all again
