First Chalice...

So I have never really cared for encrusting type corals, while Chalices are pretty, I never really gave them much thought before. I recently picked up my first frag of this chalice, I am excited to see how it does and how well I do with chalices, never given them a second thought other than, thats pretty, but looks like someone stuck pretty gum on a rock and smeared it...lol

My first Chalice Frag (Don't know if it has a fancy name or not)

Anyone have a Chalice like this? Would love to see pics of others that look simular...Like I said, Chalices are new to me, so any advice or suggestions would be great...Its been in my tank a couple days now, and I am starting to see a slight color change, from a more yellow green to more green, I was told if I had slightly elevated nutrients that it might change colors...

If I remember correctly, they use to call these watermelon or bubble gum? Have been out of the "game" for a while, so I couldn't tell you for sure.

Nice. I just recently started keeping chalices to ! I have 8 of them now. Be careful Thay are beautiful but they are mean!!:headwalls:p

Awesome! I am sure you'll love it once it starts to spread, especially if you get different/ rarer species and color combos. They add alot of color and depth to parts of the aquarium that would otherwise generally be a bit more dull. BTW i think that is the watermelon chalice but it has been a while for me as well.

Mean? I have never had any issues with mine as far as warfare goes. i am actually more concerned for the chalices sake than my sps or other lps. lol.

here is a pic of my mother colony before i fragged her......

Thanks Everyone for your replies! I am leaning toward it being more like an Original Mummy Eye, as I just got a frag of Tyree Bubble Gum Monster and it definatly looks different than the BGM...I got to see the mother colonies of both, and they do look different in person from each other...

Here are the two side by side, the First one is more of a yellow/green with Orange Eyes while the BGM is more of a Green/Green with Pink Eyes...They look totally different in person...which I am glad about...was wanting chalices that look totally different from each other, and the ones I got do, these two are just somewhat simular...

I now have a nice sample size of chalices to work with, I hope I do well with them and they grow faster than what I have heard...I like to see growth, and as long as I can see growth, I will be happy...They are pretty thats for sure...

Hey the first chalice that you have pictures is the Corn bred trash bubble gum monster. Its a pretty sweet one!!
