First Challice

I bought this small frag of some sort of challice today for 5 bucks. Just to see if they will do well in my tank. Any advice on taking care of them would be appreciated. An ID would be nice too, if anyone has seen this variety. I would imagine it is a pretty common one.

Yeah, they are pretty easy to maintain as long as your normal levels are ok.(pH, alk, nitrates, etc) I have had mine in high lighting and low, and they always did fine. In fact some chalices will change coloration under different lighting conditions(most will actually). I always had them in low flow, seemed to like it. Good luck, I love chalices.

Thanks!
I have it in my 29g biocube with 72w of pc lighting for now. Do you think that would be adequate or should I place it in my 55g with 216W T5's ?

Any Idea what they call this variety?

Looks like a Hollywood Stunner. They grow relatively quick and are hardy. Place it in low to medium light and low to medium flow and it will be fine.

I was thinking of cutting the post off the plug and puttying the disc to rock, bringing the putty right up to the edges of the chalice. It would hide the plug and give the chalice a flush edge to encrust onto.
Good idea or bad ?

It sounds like a good idea to me, just don't get the puddy near the flesh of the coral just up to the edge of the frag disk. Gl!
