First clams with a problem

Hi all,

Just inadvertantly got 2 new clams ( first clams under my care) with the purchase of a used tank...... both are really cool!!! however, i noticed that the tank has an outbreak of the dreaded red flatworms... YUK.... so....

Does anyone have any experience using flatworm exit with clams ??? dont want to hurt them but i got to get rid of these worms !!!!!

I am so happy i didnt put the new maxima and derasa in my show tank......

I dont have any expeience with Flat worm exit and clams.

However,if you find out that it is might hurt the clams , dip the clams in fresh water(RO+PH+TEMP) for a short time, ya'll see the flat worms dying instantly and then you can move the clams to your other tank.

I would say avoid any medications or dips, etc.. for your clam. Put them in another tank or let someone else take care of them until your flatworm problem is over.

FW dips for clams are extremely stressful and should only be used as a last resort. I would suggest putting them in another holding tank or let someone else take care of them, etc. until you get rid of the flatworms.

I've used flatworm exit on my tank with clams with no problems.

i am worried if i put them in another tank they will bring the flatworms with them... thats why i am interested in using the flatwom exit...

whta type of clams do you have dphinsx2 ?

did you have a ton of worms or just a few ?

did you follow the fwe instructions exactly?

I had more flatworms than I thought I did, so be careful. Try to vacuum out as many as you can. When I dosed, I watched the fish. When they started to react I started the water changes. You might have to do two treatments to get them all. The second will not be that bad because there will be much less. I have croceas and maximas but I don't think that matters.
