First Clowns and a few questions

Ruskin,

I just want to be sure, because I think you already said once before. You don't have anything else in the tank besides these two clowns right now? What have you got for a cleaning crew?

There is nothing in there besides some pvc fittings and a plastic bowl. They're currently in my quarantine tank not the main display tank. Any uneaten food gets siphoned back out.

They did eat alittle bit more today. I tried with the Mysis again. They each had afew bites which is better then nothing. Im hoping they will start to recognize the food and eat when it goes in more often now.

Something I read about the scooter blenny, but haven't experienced yet is that they tend to die easily if you are not making sure you directly feed them with some type of line/syringe. Like I said, I have pretty good luck with mine eating, however I make sure I directly feed him from the 3ml syringe I use to feed everybody else.

I do see him sifting from the sand on a semi-regular basis so I would assume he is eating scraps from the flake feeding. Well that or he just really likes the taste of sand, one or the other }:c).

Well over the last two days they have both begun eating alot more then they did. I wouldnt say they are eating 'like pigs'. But they are both becoming more aware of food, and are eating more actively.

Thanks everyone for the help.

And anyone else visting the thread... that was 5 to 6 days before they started to eat. They are now on frozen mysis with selcon.

they have the same requirements as mandarins and they do starve to death without a propper refugium or a large aquarium capable of growing enough pods.

Well, with my clown.....

I had no choice but to go to Petsmart, all they had was pellet food.

I put a tiny bit in the tank and he would eat as the pellets fell. He would not eat it from the surface or once it hit the sand. He is pretty fast, but dumb. Out of seven pellets, hewould only get three as they fell.

Is there a better way to feed?

Most of my fish are like that.

thats not good or you are feeding the wrong things too much

my fish practicly jump out of the water for their food and would chase a peice anywhere in the tank it went that is what healthy fish do
