First coral

I was just wandering what everyones first coral was and any memories that come to mind from it. Do you still have it?

My first was a pusating xenia. It is so cool looking watching the little flower looking parts open and close. I have had it for about 3 weeks now. Just getting started remember! LOL!! So really everything so far is really cool!

I got 2 at once to start. A colt coral, which sadly, due to lack of knowledge on my part, died, and a green star polyp that almost died also, but came back and is now doing quite well. I'm still new to the hobby also, my tank is only about 7 to 8 months old now.

It was either a hitchhiker mushroom or a GSP (from Kermit's). I know the GSP was the first thing I ever fragged. Seems like a long time ago...

My first SPS was a porites frag, which quickly died because of insufficient lighting and inadequate attention to water quality (calcium, alkalinity, and nitrates mainly). That was about 8 years ago. I was able to keep softies and LPS in that tank though, so I've currently got a devil's hand and a pagoda cup coral that are both over 8 years old. My first success at SPS began a year ago with a small green bird's nest frag from Kermit's, which is now grapefruit size even after removing over a dozen frags from it.
