first lighting shot!

took this on the way to bed last night... quite rare to get thunderstorms where I live (North West UK). The lovely view from my bedroom window is across to the Stanlow Oil Refinery!

Here's one I took about two years ago (ignore the signature on it, I didn't put my name on my photos then so it's dated for this year...) with my S2 hand held, it was a complete luck shot, but I still like it!

How do you get the timing of your shutter finger to match the lightning strike? Are you just really lucky?

no - technique is different. Requires a long shutter, possibly a bulb exposure if camera allows, preferable a remote release and tripod. I had used a timed shutter and proped my camera on a windowsill though.

Incredible shots Clippo! Lightning shots are so unique...alot like a snowflake ya know? No two are ever the same and they are both so common to people, we always take their originality for granted.
