First LTA

Rush awesome LTA I just got a gbta which is doing great I also upgraded to the 90 glad to see your tank is doing well and everything is happy.

Rush, any updates?

Nem is still doing great. As per your description, he inflates and deflates daily, sometimes several times a day. He is still in the same spot where I first placed him so he must be comfortable there. I've been feeding about once a week... is this too much or not enough? I'm not really sure how to gauge it since you can't really tell if he's growing...

The clowns are still not too sure about the nem. They will swim near it now, which is a change. For the first week they avoided that side of the tank completely. Just being patient with them I guess. If they host it great, if not oh well. They are still great animals.

Rush, I got my LTA about a week or so after yours. Mine did not want to stay in the spot I put it but finally after about two weeks it attach in a spot where I can get a decent look at it. Just happy it settled. Mine does the same, during the day its nice and stretched out, and at night it'll deflate and even ball up sometimes. I hear that this is normal. I am not sure about the feeding, but I have been feeding mine about twice a week.

Sounds great. I would feed mine more, but he's already pretty large. I don't want him to grow too fast. When he is completely stretched out his tips get pretty close to my frogspawn and I don't want anyone stinging anyone else.

Got a thread or link to pics of your guy? I'd love to check it out.

Updated pic. :D

I feed him about once a week. Is that not enough? How can you tell he looks like he is starving?

His tentacles are getting short and wizened. They look pinched at the ends. This is a sign the anemone is not getting enough energy, and is starting to consume its own tissues to survive. Compare this photo to the photo when you got him two months ago. If he is starving, his tentacles will get shorter and shorter, until they are nubs.

Thanks for that info. I do see what you mean in the pic, especially the tentacles in the very foreground of the pic, they look short. I looked at them tonight and it looks the same. Odd really, as the tentacles closest to the front of the tank seem shorter than the ones toward the rock work.

I am no expert on anemones. I can say though that since I got him he has colored up a bit more, more solid color, and when he fully inflates he is about 2 inches wider in diameter than when I first got him.

If you believe him to be underfed it's certainly no problem for me to do this. I just have heard of them being over fed and spitting up food fowling the tank.
