ah, I see.
In that case, you can take pictures on auto mode and then you can review each one. When you review each one, look at what the settings are. The 3 main ones will be:
Aperture
Shutter Speed
ISO
Since the camera is choosing these for you, the camera will tend to be somewhat erratic in the settings it chooses. For this reason, you review the shots, see which ones you like and take note of the settings used.
Then, you can switch to manual mode and try to recreate these same settings. This way you get a feel for what these things do in relation to one another.
