first reef camera ?'s

hello,

i would very much like to get a camera to take some decent pics of my tank and livestock without breaking the bank. i would like to take good clear closeup pics, but don't feel the need to zoom in incredibly close. i have done a little research and still have questions. lol

someone on my local forum is selling a nikon d50, 6.1 mp for a good price. any thoughts on this being a first camera and getting a macro lens to go with it? i have been also looking at a used rebel 10.1 mp that is about twice as much. is there that much of a difference that i should go for the rebel?

for a macro lens, would you recommend going for a 100mm or do you think a 50mm would suffice?

any other thoughts or suggestions?

thanks....

I have seen some pretty decent pics taken with cell phones and macro adapters coming up on here lately.
The macro lens for your dslr is going to most likely cost more than the either of the cameras you have listed. I use a 60 mm macro and wish I had the 100mm lol but the 60 has been getting me by well enough so far.
