I have them in the "wrong" way in my sumps so that they can be more easily removed and reused. Which I have already done once when I swapped out my sumps for larger ones. :)

I use Hayward Sch 80's too. Best bulkhead I've ever layed hands on. But I prefer to have the gasket on the inside and the nut and flange on the outside. I believe that is officially the "correct" way to mount the bulkhead. But I have mounted them the other way in tight situations and never had a problem. I also agree that you never want to overtighten the nut. I like to hand tighten and then use a channel loc just to turn it another 1/16 of a turn.

yes that's how I did it, made sure didn't overtighten them but these babys are indestructible..I have mounted it like that because I had so much room to work with them but on the bottom is mounted correctly

hi just wanted to let you know on those titnium heaters are crap i had them on my 1000g and they didn't work good at all temp swings like crazy, sometimes they don't even turn on. i ended up throwing them away and went with 4 400w. just giving you a heads up.

There's no "correct" way, according to Hayward. You can go either way.

She's hangin' in there... the electrician was here this morning moving all the circuits over to the generator's box. That meant my computers and the rest of the house were kind of blinking on and off all morning, so I didn't get much real work done!

Still trying to get in touch with Marc at Marcorocks about some rock.

family going right between 3 tanks and main display, hopefully will be done soon, my goal was to have water testing by the end of the week. since this is my first time doing plumbing...in the beginning of the week I had to rip out all the original hard pvc plumbing because of the pumps creating so much noise since I had them mounted on 3/4" plywood which had loud humming noise so now I had mounted them on the floor with yoga mat, Nike of course hehe, but now finally pumps are really quiet and wife can sleep in peace, before pumps are louder then my a/c compressor

you have a nice set of pumps!

thanks, finally got everything working, had to keep on troubleshooting problems with the pumps making them quiet, which i think is done and hopefully they dont get louder like before. on my fuge tank up top will this creates bubbles goin to main display since thats how plumbing was done and should gate valves be use to control the flow also

You can drop into a "T" to ease off on the bubbles-- adding a filter sock helps as well- heck even a "spray bar" with massive holes will disperse the water in a more gentile flow across the water (above or submerged) you can try that as it seems you're willing to take the time to do this right. Hope this helps as much as the Yoga mats!

yeah I plumbed my Hammerhead with flexible PVC figuring that would help and it did. I can barely hear that pump.
