it is the lack in discipline and the loss of need for self motivation that is bring ing down the kids of today. Society is pushing so hard to get kids into college and into a job that it is almost too easy to get into a college (community). Kids simply dont HAVE to try as hard anymore, and that is sad, because many of them have soo much potential, but since they have been guided im-properly, they dont know that they do. I have always set my standards higha dn everyone around me has pushed me to do so, but the low levels of self-esteem and self-pride that i see in my friends and classmates each and every day makes me sick. The Florida School system is soo tangled up in crap that it will have a hell of a time tryign to find a way out of it. School in Florida are no longer teaching to educate us on what we should be learning, but are teaching us only the necessary techniques and methods needed to pass the FCAT, so the school will get more money. I seriously am embarassed to be a part of the education system here in Florida, but on a more personal side, i try to stay off on the sidelines and find out what i NEED to learn and, i work from there. It is not the teachers OR schools fault (kind of...) it is the states, and until they can figure out what they are doing is corrupting the childrens futures as successful adults, maybe they will do something, though, this has been going on for years....but that doenst mean they have figured it out yet, i am not goin to even START with THAT stuff, but back on track... Kids nowadays NEED to care, and the parents have to stop telling themselves that their kids are are in the hands of a viable means of education that will nurture them to be to their full potential, and need to at least keep an eye on what OTHER states standards are, and then on what your kids are doing andkeep track of it all.....you may be shocked.
