First Tank Journal in Ottawa

Hi, guys, TODAY i finally received my tank from China, which traveled a month against waves of the pacific ocean and which still stays unbroken! i am fairly satisfied with the looking and it is said at least by the vendor to be with five sides of starphire. the making is fairly ok compared with that in canada or nyc but the price awesome with that in canada or nyc, just thinking about the price of those leemar's starphire tanks with same size.

This tank is going to be an sps dominated tank but with my must for a nemo and nem combo. Am going to try a ritteri this time, finger cross me. And I am going to do some plumbing jobs tomorrow and buy an RO/DI machine. Finger cross me again for everything going nice.

Wish you'd like the tank and my following picture journals.

beautiful tank! can't wait to see the progress on this tank- do you have a current setup? or are you starting from this point? Again, great buy!

yup, this is really the start point.

will be purchaing the ro/di from brs next monday. made a random tour to a fish shop today while sightseeing the dow's lake. the keepers were very nice and told me the fish biz gets busier in winter.

i was afraid the fish biz closes in winter in ottawa.

Nice.....did you get that tank from aquatic kingdom? If not they must use the same tank manufacturer. I really like the way they do the 45degree cuts with the glass.

looks good so far...keep us updated.

nope. I stayed in China last year and went to the maker's directly. Guess this is his first biz for foreign market.:spin1:

whatever, it looks nice. but the plumbing is so far the biggest problem cuz those pipes can't be connected and sealed at the store. i did all the job today and guess the sealing is really weak. the overflow is *** tight that i gotta use my fingers to seal the pipes.

finger cross me it is sealed well and no leakage happens when my ro/di arrives from brs. i presume it will come in october if i order it online on monday.

made a terrific purchase from both brs and pa. jesus, i mean really big. when goods arrive in canada, i'll be sharing the experiences.

finger cross me. i had NEVER thought the border is so tight secured! so many taxes, brokerage, blablabla

update to date,hehe

i got my nano wavebox, liking it very much.

ro/di and test kits from brs and premium aquatics are already in windsor, passing the border.

went to a very nice lfs with two gentlemen running it. probably they are in relationship? didn't mean to be offensive, hehe, they r really very nice, smiling and helpful.

guess there r plenty of good lfs' in the town. visited 2, both nice guys.

got the auto feeder and heater there.

first time to play the nano, so any advice is to be appreciated.

and still struggle to find a alpha 170 skimmer.

Nice tank, do not take offence please but the rock work looks like you just dumped rocks in your tank. You have nices pieces why not try to stack and create a masterpiece

nono

i almost just dumped it in, finishing the aquascaping within half an hour.

epoxy is the only tool i used. so i just tried to fit them into each other and made it solidly stand.

will be tryin to redo it later with a drill and some pipe.

T5 has come. i do like the color suggested in the post of t5 discussion. thanks to reefer in particular for tellin me the exact arrangement.

Since your looking at the Vertex cone you could consider the new BK double cone model.
They're not being imported to North America but you could import one from Germany. Heres a link to a retailer that could ship one to you.

I want one but already bought an ATB so I'd be jealous but it's worth mentioning to someone who likes top quality skimmers. The pump air output is adjustable so you can adjust it to dial the skimmer in (double check this as that was BKs plans but info is scarce due to the non US release). It's pretty much the same as the Alpha cone but it would be cool to have the exclusive BK cone IMO. Heres a thread on RC about it with a member posting pics and providing the link to the retailer above.

I've got an SRO 2000 int and am fairly satisfied with it. It does produce more noises than do BK's though.

some latest pictures.

:bounce2: kinda slow progress, hehe

my fav fish yellow tang and two corals randomly picked up at the store. a cleaner shrimp always hides under the rockwork.

some snails but diatom still broke out!

it looks really cool with grape purple coraline and neon green polyps.

finger cross me cuz the tank is fairly new. the phos level is a bit high at 0.12 but a huge drop within three days from 0.30.

hopefully they grow well and fast.
