First Toadstool...is this normal

This is my first Toadstool leather and he really looks good when the lights are on, polyps extended. But after about 3 hours of nights out and moon lights on he looks like he's shedding. is this normal????

Are you able to get a pic of it with the lights running?

I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post. I'm "Mr. Mom" tomorrow for my three kids, so I'll see the tank mid day with the Halides on. That is if the kids do not lock me away!

Hi everyone; he opened up. Looks pretty good I think ..... but opinions are very welcome. He is getting a little blasted, not direct, from my Mag 5's. Is that OK? Thanks again for looking and commenting

Very normal. It will do this for a few months frequently untilled its fully acclimated. And even once fully acclimated it will do it every once in awhile.

Thanks; I've never cared for a Toadstool and just wanted to be sure. In my research I read they can shed but it looked odd to me

congrats on your toad stool... we have definitely enjoyed ours... they are interesting with their "feelers" showing or sleeping, etc. some times he even has part up and part down depending upon fish traffic or mood...

here are some pics showing our original big boy and then the next two used to one that split into two by itself (the top one and the not happy one used to be one) they had flat worms on them and i had to cut it from it's original rock and dip it and rubber band onto another rock- thus, it's not happy at all showing partial "feelers" up... going to watch him and maybe just wedge him vs loose rubber band
