First Water Change?!

My 120 g has just wrapped up cycling and I am going to attempt my first water change.

How much water should I change?? 25%, 50%, 100%??

Get your nitrates down slowly with partial water changes. About 10-25% a week until they are close to zero.

25% at a time should be good. What is your goal with the tank? Community FOWLR? Predatory tank? SPS Reef? Softie Reef? etc.

My goal is reef tank. Not sure which kind. Prob soft and LPS

When your doing these water changes make sure to remove as much detritus as you can as well. Blast the rocks with a power head, stir up or vacuum your sand bed on occasion, clean any sort of mechanical filtration on a regular basis etc. Nitrates don't necessarily just show up. There's something fueling it, whether it's leftover food, an abundance of poop etc. If you get into the habit of removing this, then usually you won't have problems with that. GL.

Just do a 100% water change. That'll get rid of as much of that nitrates as possible.

I have a 120 display with about 30g sump. To start I did half a 32g brute trash can. Now I do the full (30g) trash can once a week or about 20%
