How do you like your Aquapod. Mine was a dissapointment!! I bought the 7051 version with the enclosed top. Too Hot!!
Pump problems to start, then the heat, and the fans froze up on me. Replaced them all and added a ICA chiller that runs in replacement of one of the fans in the top. Temps have been at 76 ever since. Best thing yet!!!
Well when I first got mine I got rid of the stock pump and changed it out for 2 maxi-jet 900's and drilled and put in some bulkheads and some nice spray nozzles. Swaped out the buld order so the fan kicks on when the actinic light kicks on. And I havent had a temp problem yet. So far it stays at 78. Has since Jan 1st. I like it so far but Im working on building up a 75. I want more room. lol Ill still keep it up tho.
I can try to take some pics tonight. I just used a hole saw and a lot of nerve and drilled one where the original is and one really close to the slats. Part of the hole is one slat in even. I wa sa bit nervouse but it came out very nice. Like I said Ill try to get some pics. It makes for good circulation. I have the with Y spliters so there are four outs that I can point anywhere.
nice looking tank. It does clear up the rest of the tank but it is fun to work in that tiny little space. lol I also had to notch the little plastic divider at the top in the back to run my hose over it but havent had a problem with it yet (knock on wood). lol
I was thinking of using that space for a skimmer eventually. I am still using my blue filters without the bioballs and carbon tiles, however those will have to go once i get the skimmer in there. I cant wait to get more color into it. I like the pink stuff that grows on the walls, however I dont know what that is, and how to get it to start growing. Will that come naturally? My tank is still only two months old.
I also switched out my pump for a Maxijet 1200.
My current problems are my Flame Angel, she broke out with a Fungus, and I am running her through hourly formalin flushes daily per my LFS.
I would like to say thats coraline Im sure I spelled it wrong but its good and it will just come with time. I dont have the filters in it at all the only things I have in the back of mine are a lot of live rock a heater and the 2 pumps. I tried using a skimmer that would fit in there. Cant think of the name but its the smallest one. Needless to say it sucked and was pointless.
You have LR in the rear too? Why do you need a heater? Thats the nanoskimmer by the same company as our Aquapods. Current USA. Yep that one is being replaced with a new version because it sucked. They are comming out with one that looks like the nano C, but will fit into the sump instead of hanging off the back.
I packed about as much live rock in there as I could to help with the biological filtration. As for the heater its in there incase it trys to get cold in there at night. Even with the lights on it never goes above 80. But I keep my house at about 73 so I just want to make sure when the lights go down the temp doesnt.
One word of advice is to call John at FAOIS first to make sure you get proper instructions cause mapquest gave completely incorrect directions (and yeah mapquest sucks)
