Fish and tank size
Hi everyone! I'm new in this hobby and in this forum, and i want to make a reef tank.
I trying to learn, (reading) everything as possible, to do the best I can.
I want to know, if anyone can tell me. How Big, has to be my tank, that the animals, can live in peace and good conditions.

Following, fishes i like.
-Paracanthurus hepatus
-Zebrasoma flavescens
-2 clown fish
-2 Chromis viridis
- Labrodis dimidiatus
- Mandarin fish
- six line
- Picticrhomis paccagnellae.
are those species compatibles?
are those species "reef safe" ?

Thanks!!

The hepatus tang needs a 6' 240 gallon tank. The six-line will likely outcompete the mandarin for food. Six-lines also preclude the addition of any other wrasses because of their aggressive nature. The cleaner wrasse are ecologically important to natural reefs and should be left in the ocean.

Check into fairy and flasher wrasses. There are also many anthias that would do well in a tank your size. Small- medium size tangs like one of the Ctenochaetus varieties would be a nice addition.

Hi! Thanks for teh warning, the 6line, will be no longer part of my list, i want peaceful fishies, and cleaner wrasse.. i won't be part of ocean deprovision , its not the idea.
I will check fairy and flasher wrasses,
thanks again

You can probably get away with a 6ft 125 gallon tank to begin with. Eventually the hippo tang is going to overgrow it. But you can either upgrade to a larger aquarium or find him a new home.

Definetly get rid of the six line, try looking at the Halichoeres species of wrasses. Melanurus, yellow coris, dusky, radiant, gray headed wrasses are all awesome and peaceful aquarium inhabitants. They may be 50/50 with inverts.
