Fish choice for 28g Nanocube

Now that I am down to 2 fish (six-line wrasse and firefish goby), I need to pick up at least 2 more. I've had Royal Gramma that I really liked, Clown - great fish and Azure Damselfish that I probably won't pick again.

I really like the wrasse, but I guess I can have only one in my cube. Any suggestions for nice additions? I am considering a pair of clowns as an option as well. Looking for something with great personality and easy to look at.

I have the same tank and am contemplating my fish, too. Do you like your firefish? I was going to get one of those. I'm planning a jawfish, a shrimp/goby pair (I don't know what your sand bed is like), and maybe a blenny of some sort. Still subject to revision of course. I saw a gold assessor that I'm also considering (small basslet). Saw what happened to your damselfish. YIKES! Thanks for posting, I'll be following to get ideas myself.

Pair of occelaris anemonefish would look nice. You could also add a bta or rbta for the clowns and it would look nice. Yellowtail damsels are also super beautiful, stay small(3") and are peaceful.

Btw I've never heard of a brain coral doing that too an azure damsel.:uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:

I love the fire fish, very beautiful. It might be a bit on a shy side if you don't have other fish swimming around.

All three, jawfish, shrimp/goby pair and blenny sound like great candidates.

Dont get a jawfish if you dont have a deep sandbed.

The fish were likely dead first. No brain coral is going to kill and eat a clownfish if that's what you're thinking.

This....The clowns are immune to the effects of the sting. They can still get blemishes from it but it doesn't stun them as it does other fish.

Anyway, I would reconsider the Six Line if your other tank inhabitants will be slower, timid fish like Firefish. Six Lines are pigs, they will steal food from your fish, harass them, chase them around the tank, and generally be asshats, especially in a smaller tank.

I'd look at these fish:

Royal Gramma
Purple Firefish
Zebra Dartfish
Watchman Goby
Antenna Goby

etc.

Haha this is true. And what makes clowns so great in our tanks.

My perc, when I first got him was fine but months later he started developing this blacks spot. I was like what the....is this? Especially since I just treated them for ich. Come to find out the black spots were stings. Evidently he was playing in my torch or frogspawn. Not sure which but it was one of them.
My clowns are so ammusing to me lol

I have the following in my 28 Nano and it works pretty good.

2 false percs
1 purple fire fish
1 Yellow Watchman Goby/Tiger Pistol Shrimp
1 Tail Spot Blenny
Wanting to get a Fork Tail Blenny as soon as I find one, and a Anemone for my clowns as soon as my SRBTA splits in my DT.

Very peaceful tank. I had a bad experience with a Royal Gamma, so will never get one of them again. Tank is too small for a damsel IMO.

Thats quite a bit of a bioload on a 28 gallon

I have two percula clownfish in my nano cube, and plan on adding a tailspot blenny and a fire fish once my LFS stocks them. My end goal is to have reef safe fish that would not be too shy and mostly stay out in the open.
