I am thinking about down the road doing between a 220-300

We currently have

Blue Hippo Tang
Standard Clown
Black Perc
Foxface Lo
Longnose Hawkfish
Neon Goby

The problem is we would like to do a Clown Trigger but we don't want to get rid of ANY of our current fish...I'm sure most people on here with kids understand...Nor do I have the room for numerous tanks...

Suggestions? Recommendations?

Does having a clown trigger mean I can't have any peaceful fish? Or smaller semi-aggressive?

Kiss your clowns and neon goby good bye. IMO you cant have a clown trigger in a passive tank setting. I would not do it inless you get a a-hole tank.

If you are dead set on a clown trigger purchase a very small juvenile and plan on it being the last fish. You may avoid some issues that way, however, be prepared to lose most any small fish should it get hungry enough.

Also, forget any crustaceans especially urchins and shrimp. Triggers make good sport out of flipping urchins over and eating them from the bottom up.

Sadly enough we used to feed dying urchins to the triggers as a treat at a past job.

I've got a great book at home that is solely about fish. I will get you the title. It is well worth the money to purchase if you plan on mixing a lot of different and odd species. It tells where they are from, water quality preferences, temp preference, food, behavior, etc. Again, well worth the money. I wish I could find one similar to it for corals.

Wow, I just looked at the book this was the 7th edition in 1985. Trottman wasn't even born...... On MD the review was not that good so I do not know if they have revised it since. However, in 1987 it was one of the better books out there. Damn, I am getting old. Sorry, take a look and see what you think. Title: Exotic Marine Fish by Dr. Axelrod & Emmens.
