fish disapearing

friend of mine has a 125g bout 3 or 4yrs old recently he,s been battleing green hair alge. chemicaly everything workin on that end.alge aside, he needs to build up his cleanup crew.however in trying .a tang or a foxface,dimond goby they disapear after a fewdays.[not jumping]the only thing surviving is a blue chromis and a small clown.his coral are ok but hair is closing in .the otherday he said theresa big brittle star in there bout 10in diameter.could that be the killer?

If its a big green one, thats is probably the culprit. They will wait raised up on their legs until a fish goes under the 'shelter' to sleep. They become more of a problem as they get bigger. It will probably go into any container with food in it relatively quickly, or just grab it with hands. Shouldn't really need to 'trap' it, just put a gatorade bottle with a shrimp in it somewhere he can crawl into it, then grab it out.
