Fish dying

So I've had my tank running for the last 3 months with fish, Corel, shrimp and inverts. A week and a half ago I got a coco tube worm from a lfs that was dingy looking and 2 days after that my yellow eye tang was against the glass 'gaping for air'. It had sort of a slime coming off its fins and within a day it was dead. Today one of my ocelous clownfish was swimming awkwardly and kept getting sucked into the power heads. There was some white spots on it so I thought it was ich so I tried to do a freshwater dip and tonight it died. I am obsessed with my reef and spend lots of time watching everything and I haven't noticed anything strange with any of my fish until they got sick and died within the day.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for your losses. It always tuff having fish die. Start with a list of what's in your tank and what is your water prams.

Sounds like you brought velvet home. Read the stickies. Fresh water dips only work for flukes. If you have any fish left they must be moved and copper treated while main system remains fishless for 3 months. Coral and inverts can stay. Really need to quarantine all new arrivals.

I agree.
If you don't start using a QT; parasite problems will never stop.
FW baths do nothing for ich. This could possibly be brooklynella too. Pics would help.

This morning my two spot goby, cardinal fish and the other clown are dead. I didn't have the space or money to set up a qt tank that's large enough for my fish, but now with the $ I lost in fish I feel like a fool. All I have is a large rubber maid container, will that be okay for the time being to treat the fish while I wait for my tank to recover?

I tried to take some pictures but you can't really see much. The fins on some of the dead fish are falling apart and slimy but idk if that's just from the cuc during the night. So all of my inverts and pod colonies in my sump are all okay to stay, just no fish for at least 3 months to end the parasite life cycle?

Not picking on you, I just don't understand how anyone can have a good size reef tank, but can't afford a QT. You can probably find all you need for a QT on Craigslist for less than the price of your heater. This a common mistake, not just you. I hope all new hobbyists read this thread.

Yes, "Brute" type containers are safe....as long as you're sure there isn't soap residue, etc. in them. Unless 100% sure, get a new one from Wal-Mart. They're great for mixing new water too. Keep new fish in a QT 6 weeks (IMO). Because you don't know what parasite; I think the 3 month fishless is fine for your DT. Spend the waiting time reading some stickies in the disease forum. Now, back to my Christmas mayhem.
