Fish Emergency

I have a false perc that has been in the tank about 4 weeks, with a two week ago adition of another false perc and a one week ago addition of a yellow clown goby.

The clown that has been in the tank the longest this morning seemed to be acting strange, just hanging around the top of the tank, and then several hours later I saw it thrashing around the tank, not just like hitting grazing the rocks, I mean it was throwing its self around the tank, almost like a seizure.

Now it appears to be not doing well sort of laying around, not swimming, but still breathing, I have made a makeshift QT but I am sure it will not make it. I am not sure what is going on. I havn't seen any evidence of Ich, however its hard to tell now after all the damage done to its scales to tell the difference between scratches and ich.

The other fish are fine and are happy, eating, swimming being normal.

All water parameters are strait (Spec Grav, Salinity, Amonia, Nitrites, nitrates, PH) All normal, Temp 80, Lights have been the same 8 hour cylcle I have had since the tank started up. All corals are happy, extended and showing no signs of stress

Whats up?

Nick

I'd say pull it out of the tank asap, it'll be dying soon if it hasn't already. No need for the other fish to catch whatever the clown has.

:(

Too bad. I've got maybe a 50/50 survival rate with saltwater fish. They're tricky. Keeping corals is easy in comparison.

One thing to consider is that you may have had two females in the tank... Any clown left alone for any extended period of time is most likely a female and if the clown added had for any reason been female that would possibly explain the behavior... Sorry for your loss..

Best way to avoid this in the future is to add a male next time ...
